JJ Abrams : A New Hope For Star Wars Fans

Episode VII director understands his responsibility

For Star Wars fans (which I am in a BIG, BIG way), the release of the second trailer for Episode VII: The Force Awakens was a wonderful moment. The film looks like it's going to be nothing short of amazing.

The second trailer for Star Wars Episode VII is out.

However, it's also nerve-racking. You see, we've been fooled before. The trailer for Episode I: The Phantom Menace looked amazing. So did the one for Episode II: Attack of the Clones. I remember letting myself get really, really excited to see them both and walking out of the theater each time looking for a puppy to kick.

So, as happy as we are to have another Star Wars film on the way, that feeling of uneasiness, that little cynical voice in the back of our heads warning us not to get fooled again.

Director J.J. Abrams hears us, and understands.

At this week's Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, Abrams took to the stage to talk about the way he approached directing the newest installment of the beloved series. J.J. was a fan of Star Wars growing up, so he gets what we've all gone through with the prequels.

Joined by producer Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams offered reassuring words, especially when talking about going away from computer-generated graphics and back to actually building sets.
