Alec Baldwin Talks Shia LaBeouf Beef, Late Night Show Speculation and Being a Dad Again

This could be the last we'll hear from Alec Baldwin for awhile, according to him.

In a sit-down with The Hollywood Reporter, the former "30 Rock" star suggested the chat might be "one of the last interviews I ever do" and spoke about a host of topics--from the drama surrounding his former costar Shia LaBeouf's abrupt exit from Broadway's "Orphans" to the rumors he's in talks to host a late-night talk show.

From out of the lengthy interview, here are some choice tidbits that Baldwin offered up:

On LaBeouf posting Baldwin's private emails online after leaving the play: "He's going through whatever he's going through. We've all been in that situation when we were younger where we want to tell everyone to go kiss off. We want to be our own man. And, I mean, I'm older now. And there does seem to be an inverse proportion to how much experience you have and how much you shoot your mouth off."

On his daughter Ireland Baldwin's budding modeling career: "The business is not as easy, so I hope if she likes it she hangs in there. But we'll see. I just would like her to finish college, so she has something to fall back on."

On "The Tonight Show" transition: "I think that Jimmy [Fallon]'s going to be the greatest talk-show host, along with David Letterman and Johnny Carson, ever...Jimmy is clever and funny, but Jimmy also has tremendous warmth. He's got so much energy, and he's happy. He's got that gift."

On whether he'd host his own talk show (as reports suggest): "It depends on the format and who it was for and what the schedule was like. Those guys that do talk shows have that terrible condition where they have to pretend everybody's special. I don't know if I could do that.

On becoming a dad again at 55 with wife Hilaria Baldwin: "It's really like a dream come true. Because as much as I have struggled as a divorced parent--and God knows, I've had my ups and downs--the only thing that I regret was that I missed so much of my daughter's childhood because of this contentious situation."
