Rosie O'Donnell Not Enjoying The Single Life

Friend's still say she's doing OK

Rosie O'Donnell's a bit lonely nowadays, now that her longtime galpal has split.

"I'm not [enjoying the single life]," she told People. "But on we grow, so to speak."

Earlier this month, O'Donnell revealed that she and her longtime girlfriend, Kelli Carpenter, separated two years ago. Though she usually remained tight-lipped about her relationships, O'Donnell confirmed breakup rumors on her Sirius satellite radio show after a guest mentioned something about her Chihuahua, Misty.

"What happened [was] when Kelli moved out two years ago, I got the dog. Because I wanted another child or something to love. And I got the dog," O'Donnell said.

Despite her discontent with the single life, her friends say she's doing well.

"She seems happy and grounded," said O'Donnell's friend Judy Gold. "She's in the driver's seat here."

The couple have three adopted children together, Parker, 14, Chelsea, 12 and Blake, 9, and one child whom Carpenter carried, Vivian, 6.

O'Donnell has vowed in previous interviews to maintain a good relationship with Carpenter even though they are separated.

"We will both continue to parent them and we're friendly and everything's all right,” she said.
