“Planet of the Apes” Actress Charged in DUI Case

"Planet of the Apes" actress and former Sports Illustrated model Estella Warren was charged Thursday with four misdemeanor counts stemming from her drunken driving arrest last month.

Warren is scheduled to be arraigned June 17 on one misdemeanor count each of DUI, hit-and-run, battery on a peace officer and resisting or delaying a peace officer, according to Frank Mateljan of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

Warren was arrested just after midnight May 24 -- about an hour after she was stopped on suspicion of drunken driving in the 600 block of North Harper Avenue, according to Los Angeles police.

The 40-year-old model/actress allegedly had crashed her Prius into three parked cars and resisted arrest -- some accounts had her kicking an officer -- at the scene. While being booked, she slipped out of her handcuffs and ran out a police station door, though she was quickly recaptured.

She was released at 2:35 p.m. the same day after posting $100,000 bond, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website.

Warren was in the 2001 version of "Planet of the Apes" and the 2003 film "Kangaroo Jack." Her TV work includes "That `70s Show" and "Law & Order."
