There be pirates in the Hollywood Hills. Cash and jewelry were stolen from the home of actor Orlando Bloom while the star of "Pirates of the Caribbean" was out of town, police said Thursday.
A relative of the actor went to the home at 2645 Outpost Drive Wednesday evening, discovered there had been a burglary and notified police, said Richard French of the LAPD.
Police did not reveal the value of the stolen cash and jewelry, but TMZ.com reported that "roughly $500,000 in jewelry -- including two very expensive watches" were taken.
The property was once home to civil rights lawyer Melanie Lomax, who was appointed to the Los Angeles Police Commission in 1990 by then-Mayor Tom Bradley.
On Sept. 10, 2006, Lomax was backing out of the home's steep driveway when her vehicle plunged over an embankment, fatally injuring her.
The home was also once the residence of singer Helen Reddy, and "Dharma & Greg" actor Thomas Gibson.
