Tiki Barber and wife Ginny are separating.

Tiki Barber, the former all-pro New York Giants running back turned NBC personality, announced that he is separating from his wife.

"After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate," Barber said in a statement to the New York Post. "This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known."

According to the Post, Barber and his wife have two sons, A.J., 7, and Chason, 6.

The Barber's began dating when both were students at the University of Virginia where Tiki starred as a versatile running back. He was eventually drafted by the Giants and spent 10-years in the Meadowlands, quietly setting offensive records for the G-men. He made three Pro Bowls.

Barber, 35, retired in 2007 and began working for NBC as a host on the Today Show and an analyst for the NBC's NFL broadcasts. The media friendly former player stirred controversy by criticizing his former team before they went on to win a Super Bowl in the year after he left.
