Ryan O'Neal's Son Arrested on Domestic Battery Charges

The award-winning actor's adult son already faces DUI and gun charges

Griffin O'Neal, the son of the late Farrah Fawcett and troubled actor Ryan O'Neal, is back in jail — this time, on new charges.

The 47-year-old was arrested at home in San Diego on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery on New Year's Eve, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Thursday.

According to a police spokeswoman, a family member called the cops and told them O'Neal had gotten drunk and aggressive toward his wife. Further details weren't available.

This is hardly the newest legal trouble for O'Neal.

He pled guilty back in November to DUI and gun possession charges, after he veered into oncoming traffic while on drugs and hit a van head-on. The cops who came to the scene found a loaded gun, a shotgun, ammunition and cocaine in his car — and Xanax, cocaine, marijuana and amphetamines in his body, prosecutors said. At the time, O'Neal was on probation for a 2007 DUI conviction.

His lawyers said at the time of the 2011 crash that he had been on some of the drugs as treatment for his degenerative bone disease and that he was en route to help his brother Redmond, who himself had just been arrested with heroin in his car.

Griffin O'Neal's famous father Ryan was arrested, but released, back in 2006 for assaulting his son.

Griffin O'Neal's other famous relative: His sister Tatum O'Neal, who co-starred with their dad in Paper Moon when she was a child and who in recent years has revived her acting career.
