J. Lo Scores Big Payday for “Idol” Return: Report

Jennifer Lopez reportedly isn’t on the fence about returning to “American Idol” anymore. She’s in the money.

The newly-single screen star and “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer scored “a smidge over” $20 million for a second season as judge on the Fox hit, TheWrap.com reported, citing an individual familiar with the deal. Another insider also confirmed Lopez's return to the entertainment site.

At $20 million Lopez’s payday is well above the reported $12 million she wrangled the first time around. It also bests Steven Tyler’s earnings, $18 million according to Fox 411.

While the deal is “done,” Lopez has yet to ink the contract, according to The Wrap. Neither Fox nor Lopez’s rep commented to The Wrap on the report.

Back in June Lopez told BBC radio she was “on the fence” about another go on “Idol.”

"I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening, and it's going to come down to making a choice of really what I want to do for the next year," she said at the time.

“Idol” producers will have to work around at least two Lopez film productions, according to The Wrap. She’s set to star in “What to Expect When You're Expecting," in May 2012 and is also in pre-production for the thriller “Parker.”

Lopez, who turned 42 last month, is also sticking with the new Latin American talent competition she’s producing with estranged hubby Marc Anthony, according to The Wrap.
