British Actress Susannah York Dies at 72

Susannah York, perhaps best known for her Oscar-nominated role in the 1969 film “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?” passed away from a fight with cancer. She was 72.

Reuters reports that York was one of the mainstays of 1960’s cinema, having roles in such films as “Tom Jones,” and “A Man For All Seasons.” The actress starred across from notable names like Elizabeth Taylor, Marlon Brando, and Peter O’Toole.

“She was an absolutely fantastic mother,” said her actor son Orlando Wells, to the British newspaper, the Sunday Telegraph. “She loved nothing more than cooking a good Sunday roast and sitting around a fire of a winter’s evening. In some sense, she was quite a home girl.”
