Larry King's sister-in-law has denied an alleged affair with the CNN host.

As Larry King and wife Shawn Southwick each filed divorce papers on Wednesday, rumors arose that an alleged affair between Larry and his wife's sister, Shannon Engemann, was the cause for the split – a claim Shannon blasted to Access Hollywood.

"[I] never had an affair" with King," Shannon told Access on Wednesday. "I am not the reason for this."

Though she didn't know the source of the rumors, she added that "it's a lot easier than Shawn taking responsibility" for her own marriage.

While reports circulating claimed Larry had bought her a "$160,000 car," Shannon said he had simply helped her – and her family.

"He also helped my mom get a car, my dad get a car," she said. "Larry is very sweet, he's always been very generous to our entire family."

She also denied a report that Larry was paying for her to live at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"I have my own apartment and I pay for it myself!" she said.

The divorce between the iconic TV talker and his seventh wife, she added, did not come as a surprise.

"[It] has been percolating for a long time," she said of Larry, 76, and Shawn, 50, who married in 1997.

Shawn was Larry's seventh wife, but this marks his eighth divorce — he was twice married to Alene Aknis during the '60s and '70s
