Jon Gosselin: I Don't Seek Fame

Jon to put the brakes on relationship with Hailey Glassman

Reality TV dad Jon Gosselin said he doesn’t understand why he’s so famous – but he’s sure about celebrity’s toxic influence and plans to put the brakes on his relationship with gal pal Hailey Glassman until his divorce is official.

“I think I'm just misunderstood. I'm not a fame seeker,” Gosselin said at a panel talk with celebrity Rabbi Shmuley Boteach in New York City on Sunday, People reported. “Everyday I look in the mirror and I wonder [why I'm famous]. I don't sing. I don't dance. I'm not a Nobel Peace Prizewinner. I just had eight kids and I had a show on TLC.”

The 32-year-old octodad copped to bad behavior since his split from estranged wife Kate. But he did not get into specifics beyond an acknowledgment that he’d been photographed in nightclubs.

“Half the stuff I've done, if I look at my moral compass, I shouldn't have done," he said. "I know that but I did it anyway. It's like fame canceled out conviction."

Gosselin’s latest public mea culpa came hours after he issued a 376-word statement to Etonline.com mostly devoted to defending 22-year-old Glassman.

The Gosselin family friend whose dad performed Kate’s tummy-tuck surgery has been “unfairly treated by the world,” even though she “has been selfless,” Jon wrote. He added that she was no "homewrecker."

Last week, Glassman accused Jon of emotionally abusing her with “mantrums,” a charge Gosselin indirectly acknowledged in the statement.

"I have been overly stressed, distraught and angry with everything going on in my life. It has been overwhelming, and at times I have taken it all out on Hailey,” he wrote.

Gosselin said he would “forever love Hailey” and would heed her suggestion that they “both take some time right now and focus on each of our individual lives.”

On Sunday, Gosselin denied rumors the pair was splitting up for good.

They planned to “slow things down” until his divorce was settled, Gosselin said, according to People.
