Jimmy Buffett Released From Hospital After Stage Fall

"Margaritaville" singer was performing in Australia

Singer Jimmy Buffett is said to be "doing well" and has left the hospital where he was admitted for a head injury after falling off the stage while performing in Sydney, Australia.

The 64-year-old "Cheeseburger in Paradise" singer may have been temporarily blinded by flashing lights when he stumbled off the edge Tuesday night, witnesses told TMZ.

"It looked like he did a massive face plant after his encore and pretty much didn't get up," witness Dan Batemen told the Australia's Daily Telegraph.

Concertgoers, who were quickly hustled out of Hordern Pavilion, said he appeared to suffer a large gash on his head.

After a CAT scan showed nothing amiss, Buffett was released Wednesday afternoon, TMZ reported.

A message on the singer's website also confirmed he'd been released after earlier noting he was "doing well."

Buffett had performed three sold-out shows before the performance, which was a late add-on to accommodate fans unable to get tickets to prior shows. He had not been in the Land Dow Under in more than 20 years, but promised fans he and his Coral Reefer Band would return in 2012.
