Donovan Goal Leads to Tender Moment with Estranged Wife

U.S. star shares special World Cup moment with estranged wife Bianca Kajlich

It seems Landon Donovan’s knack for late saves may extend beyond the soccer field.

Following the American soccer star’s dramatic game-winning goal against Algeria in extra minutes Wednesday at the World Cup, Donovan blew an on-air kiss to his soon-to-be ex-wife Bianca Kajlich and followed up with an emotional conversation by phone that went on for hours, Yahoo! Sports reported.

The “Rules of Engagement” actress and LA Galaxy star reportedly first split two years ago. But Donovan said Thursday his marriage isn’t a done deal.

“We are not officially divorced,” Donovan told Yahoo! “We spoke last night; it was nice.”

That the pair might be on the cusp of reconciling “would surprise no one,” a friend of Kajlich’s told the sports news site.

“They have remained in contact and are very close to one another,” said the friend, who asked to remain anonymous. “The fact that Landon wanted to share his special moment with her is very significant.”

Speaking of special moments – Donovan and the rest of the U.S. squad reportedly received a pep talk from President Obama heading into Saturday’s do or die match against Ghana.
