Corey Haim's Father: “A Piece Of Is Gone”

A day after the death of Corey Haim, his father Bernie Haim, arrived in Los Angeles from his home in Montreal on Thursday.

Bernie, who prefers not to go on camera, spoke to Access Hollywood's Maria Menounos about his pain since losing his son.

"Have you ever lost a kid?" Bernie asked Maria. "A piece of you is gone."

Bernie, who also just recently lost his mom (Corey's grandmother), said he spoke to Corey twice a day before his death.

He would often tell his son, "God blessed you with the talent to be an actor." He told Maria that Corey had a big heart, was a good person, but was often scared.

Bernie last saw his 38-year-old son in January and urged him to settle down, get married and start a family.

As for Corey's mom, Judy Haim, she told Maria that the media continues to harass her. She said they have been continually knocking on her door and sneaking around the apartment complex where she and Corey lived together.

Maria also spoke with fellow child actor and friend of Haim's, Scott Schwartz, who said Haim appeared well just last month.

"Last time I saw him was about a month or so ago and he felt great and he looked great," Scott explained. "The Corey that I met originally and knew and love [was] back."

Scott is helping to organize Haim's belongings to sell on eBay in order to help his mother raise money for the actor's funeral.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Judy Haim told Access that she was informed by the LA County Coroner's Office that Corey died of pulmonary congestion. Haim's toxicology report is expected to be released in six to eight weeks.
