San Diego Stair Climb

San Diego 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb
On Saturday September 8, 2012 to commemorate the 11th anniversary of 9/11, the San Diego Fireman’s Relief Association and Firefighter Aid will put on the annual memorial stair climb event at the San Diego Bayfront Hilton. In honor of the 403 Emergency responders who made the ultimate sacrifice performing their sworn duty to protect life; firefighters, law enforcement, military and civilians will climb the same number of floors as in the twin towers. Each 110 story climb will be in the name of an Emergency responder whose life was lost on 9/11.
Approximately 100 firefighters die serving their communities each year and even more die from illnesses suffered as a result of their service. Registration to participate in the climb is $60 and the funds raised from this event will be donated to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and FirefighterAid; which cares for Firefighters and families through sickness, distress, and death. The event will also include Fire Apparatus displays, a presentation of 9-11 steel recovered from Tower 1 at Ground Zero, a Food & Beer Garden featuring brews from Stone Brewery & Lost Abbey, a Jr. Firefighter challenge, a San Diego Harley Raffle and live entertainment.
