NBC San Diego’s morning weatherman, Whitney Southwick will emcee the Lung Cancer Alliance-California’s (LCA-CA) 3rd Annual San Diego Breath of Hope. On May 1, 2011 at the Bloch Cancer Survivors’ Park, the 5K walk will raise funds and spread awareness in support of the Lung Cancer Alliance, the only national non-profit organization focused on patient support and advocacy for people both at risk and living with the disease.
The Lung Cancer Alliance’s primary mission is to empower patients and transform health policy by leading the movement against the enduring stigma and neglect of those affected by lung cancer. Participation and support for this event will enable the LCA-CA to maintain its programs and goals, such as providing live one-on-one support services for patients, families, and friends and securing millions in public health dollars for lung cancer research. Every pre-registered participant will receive a ticket to the June 4th Padres game against the Houston Astros, which will feature a pregame ceremony in recognition of lung cancer awareness.
