Gaby Rodriguez, NBC 7 Reporter

As a curious 6 year old, Gaby Rodriguez says she would often forgo the usual cartoon shows and popular sitcoms to watch the news.

"I could sit there for hours, inspired by the stories reporters would tell, and the ease with which the anchors spoke for hours on end during breaking news", said Rodriguez.

Gaby Rodriguez grew up in Los Angeles County with her mother, Soledad, who is not only a single parent but a small business owner.

"My mother was always supportive of my dream to be a journalist. She never doubted I would make it, and I truly believe she is the reason why I have been able to achieve my dream."

Rodriguez's career kicked off at KFSN-TV in Fresno, California.

As a traffic reporter for the #1 morning show in the Central Valley, she covered a traffic crash where two CHP officers lost their lives.

She quickly moved on to reporting out on the field on top of her traffic reporter duties. Within her first year on the air, she won a regional Emmy.

After three years at KFSN-TV, took on an even bigger role at the Nexstar duopoly in Fresno. There she was the morning field reporter and fill-in anchor.

A partnership between Nexstar and Telemundo allowed her to use her bilingual skills to her advantage and report in both English and Spanish to viewers from Bakersfield to Modesto.

Rodriguez is excited to be a part of the NBC 7 morning team.

You can find her hitting the county's beaches as often as she can with her labradoodle Luna.

She loves to tell stories that evoke feelings.
