Avedon Exhibit in Palm Springs

IMAGES THAT MADE THE AGE: Photographer Richard Avedon is widely credited for being at the vanguard, for decades, of fashion photography, which of course is no small feat. And while magazines will often do lookbacks at the artist, who passed away just over a half decade ago, there are fewer opportunities to see dozens of his photographs gathered in one space. Now, we can, thanks to a new, 90-work exhibition that opened at the Palm Springs Art Museum on Saturday, Oct. 16.

TWIGGY TO MARILYN TO CHAPLIN: The subjects in "Richard Avedon: Fashion, Stage, and Screen" are wide-ranging, but a sense of the iconic runs through every work. We're also excited this show is running through January 30, 2011, which means it will overlap with the Palm Springs International Film Festival, which is scheduled for January 6-17. Bet the stars attending that event will be out in force to bask in Avedon's starry snapshots at the museum.
