Vintner's Vonderland: No, we're not pronouncing the season with a slight German accent, a vintner is someone who makes and, usually, sells wine. Now you know. Also, if you didn't happen to know, feel or see the smooth winter transition autumn is making, you're more knowledgable still. The change really sets the scene for a place like Yosemite. Already a magical place of nature and best known for its waterfalls, the winter time is when it really comes to life, complete with snow-tipped pine trees and frozen-over lakes. So why not add to the magic with local wine and food. The Vintners Holiday event will provide you with a wine tasting and seminars, as well as a five-course Gala Dinner prepared by Executive Chef Percy Whatley. The next session is November 28-30. After that? December 1-2. Then the season of Vintners is over.
The Vintner Venue: The Ahwahnee Hotel, which happens to be Yosemite's most luxurious form of accomadation. If you'd like to treat yourself and stay at the Ahwahnee, make sure to book a reservation plenty in advance because it books up rather quickly.
