Newport Beach Wine & Food: Tickets on Sale

The early fall feast-around will include tasty tidbits from 40+ OC restaurants.

STROLLING INTO A NEW RESTAURANT, at least an eatery you personally haven't yet tried, can summon a fizzy feeling of discovery. For sure, many of the ingredients found within will be familiar to you, but how they're composed, and allowed to sing together, will lend a fresh element to your dine-out experience. Now multiple that single restaurant by, well, 40, at least, and you have an even fizzier sense that you're about to embark on some true culinary discovery. That's the delight that comes with a top-notch, top-toque'd gourmet gathering like the Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival. The festival, which dips a toe in both September and October in 2017 — the dates are Friday, Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 1 — will feature over three dozen Orange County dining favorites, and then some. Those include Hook & Spear, Filomena's Italian Kitchen, Michael's on Naples Ristorante, and Five Crowns, among the many, meal-lovely others. Attendees at the fest will be able to try a haute host of tastes from each place, making for over 40 flavorful experiences in all. And on the beverage side of the celebration? Prepare for...

HUNDREDS OF ACCOLADED LIBATIONS, drinks that'll run the gamut from perfect wines to spirits to a line-up of craft brews. Will there be demonstrations hosted by well-known chefs? That's been a part of the festival since its beginning nearly a half decade back, so count on spying the likes of Hubert Keller, Nobu Matsuhisa, Shirley Chung, and other pros who are eager to share the finer points of fine cookery. Will other special happenings pop up during the three-day run, like a just-introduced Havana Nights party? You can count on it. But don't count on tickets staying around forever: They're on sale now but they do go as quickly as a table lined with savory, just-set-out appetizers and desserts. If the first part of your autumn could use the zing of a swanky food fest, best start here.
