Memorial Day Flower Drop

REMEMBRANCE: Many Memorial Day services will happen around California over the long weekend, but one of the most striking, and for some the most emotional, is the annual Memorial Day Flower Drop at the Palm Springs Air Museum. A B-25 Mitchell ascends with some very important cargo -- 3,000 red and white carnations. Once the plane is airborne, the flowers are released. And one of the most meaningful aspects to the day? The buds fall in and around spectators at the museum, which means that viewers are able to leave with a flower.

DETAILS: The flower drop service and family activities are happening from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 30, with the actual drop taking place at 1 p.m. Music and family activities will also be part of the day. If you'd like to stay and go through the museum, it will be open through 5 p.m. (an adult entry is $14).
