Danny Boyle's “Frankenstein”

BOYLE'S MONSTER: "Frankenstein," whether on stage, screen, or the page, is still famed for dealing out a jolt or two, and a few surprises, too. If you like your Shelleyian story to be full of the unexpected, you'll like what's going down at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts on Sunday, April 3 and Sunday, April 10. The venue will be screening "Frankenstein" as directed by Danny Boyle. (Did you suddenly have a moment where you thought, yes, that is exactly the director who should be taking on that tale?) It's a National Theatre stage production, and it stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

ANOTHER SURPRISE: Now, here's a really excellent twist: The actors will change roles from Sunday to Sunday. So, on Sunday, April 3, Mr. Cumberbatch is the creature, and Mr. Miller is the creator. Then, on Sunday, April 10, it'll be the other way around. Challenging, yes, but we're sure under Mr. Boyle's directorial eye all goes smoothly. Plus, you like these actors. Mr. Cumberbatch recently ruled the reboot of "Sherlock Holmes" while Mr. Miller has charmed in many a production, including Mr. Boyle's own "Trainspotting." Yes, charmed, even in that dark ride.

ON SCREEN: Again, this is a broadcast from the National Theatre. Also, it is 18+ only.
