CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: The cherry trees at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park are bursting with pink and white blooms. Perfect timing for the annual festival and what better time to check out the new expansion project? The multi-year project will expand the current 2.5-acre area to eleven acres. The gardens will include a camellia and azalea garden, a traditional teahouse, a cherry tree grove, and a tea and herb garden.
LITTLE MISS SAKURA CROWNING: Starting at 11a.m. on March 19, ten girls ages 4-6 will compete in a song and dance performance and an interview to compete for the title of Little Miss Sakura.
FREE FOR KIDS: On Science Family Day at the park, kids under 17 will be admitted for free. General admission is $4. Students/Seniors/Military with ID are $3.
