Catalina Island Conservancy Ball

AVALON SOIREE: When you think of Santa Catalina Island, what do you think of first? Well. It's hard not to think of the Casino, the famously round, famously jutting landmark that is nearly synonymous with the pretty hunk of Pacific-surrounded land it sits on (we should note that the building itself doesn't exactly jut but the area it sits on does, a bit). But do you also think of all that wild land, the beautiful hills, and the animals that call those hills home? Yes. And we can thank the Catalina Island Conservancy for helping to watch after all that wilderness. And now we can really thank them, but attending Catalina's Gold, the organization's annual fund-raising ball.

LANDMARK LOCATION: And, of course, the ball can only be in one place: the ballroom inside the Casino. Which is probably the one venue every Golden Stater should strive to kick up their heels in at least once in their lifetimes. And if that heel-kicking-up is for a good cause, like helping the Catalina Island Fox Recovery Project? Even better. The date is Saturday, April 9. Happy dancing, and happy helping the wild things of SCI.
