Blue Men in Orange County

BROADWAY TOGS: Ticket contests come in many flavors. And while the "submit your name and see if you win" route is always easy and welcome, we like when the contest reflects the show it is promoting. The contest going on now in support of the Blue Man Group's two-week Orange County sojourn fits the spirit of the show. The upshot? The Segerstrom Center for the Arts is looking for photos of "Broadway-themed Halloween costumes." If you have one -- maybe you dressed as something witchy from "Wicked" once? Or a member of "A Chorus Line"? -- post it on the Segerstrom's Facebook page by Nov. 4 for a chance to win opening night tickets. That's a snap, right? Certainly for fans of the Great White Way who have a few great Halloween snapshots in their personal stash.

AND OPENING NIGHT IS... Tuesday, Nov. 8. The show makes merry in Costa Mesa through Tuesday, Nov. 20. If you've seen Blue Man Group before, you know. YOU KNOW. There are surprises and spoilers which we will stay plenty zip-lipped about here. But count on a comedic, highly surreal show full of percussion and pantomime and paper. Oh, did we say paper? Anywho. There's a reason the troupe recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary Reunion Show. You only get to that milestone when you get a lot of repeat business, or people who loved you the first time tell all their friends. Now. Better go find that photo and try for your free opening night tickets.

NOTE: The group's other regional stop is Santa Barbara, if you can't make a Costa Mesa show. That visit follows the Orange County run.
