Base Camp: Desert Festival Glamping

Looking for a tent-style stay at Coachella, with a bit of flair?

MEMORABLE OVERNIGHTS: The major music and art spectaculars that flower around California in the warmer months are very much about what's on the stages, and what's in the food and drink halls, and what installations are bringing the visual wow. But attendees also take into consideration what's the optimal path away from the festival, in terms of where they get some needed shut-eye, after a day of singing along, dancing, admiring art, and basking in (a lot of) sun. Your cousin's friend's couch has sometimes been an option, and the large-scale, multi-pool resorts, too, but if glamping is more your vibe, then prepare to make camp at Base Camp. The tent and RV pop-up, located in Thermal, is just a scoot south from the Empire Polo Club ("scoot" meaning about a 10-minute drive) and starts at $59 a night. Base Camp promises the sorts of amenities you might find at a stylish hotel, such as...

CONCIERGE SERVICE, and swimming, and cocktails for sale, and ways to get to the festivals, and those all-important charging stations. Look for "a sandy beach lagoon" and pool, if you're planning on a little chillax time away from the festivals. As for open dates? You only need check the dates for the Coachella Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Festival to find when the Base Camp shall make camp. Opening date is Thursday, April 13, while everything shutters on Monday, May 1. Like the festivals, though, the camp'll be in operation around the weekends, so if you're planning to stretch out your desert stay, double check your dates.
