A Romantic Borrego Getaway

Head for the desert for some sweet dancing and dinner.

WINTER RELAXING: A perfect day means different things to different people, of course, although we can all probably agree that a February day that's in the 70s, and dry, with some sunshine, and puffy white clouds, and there are some stunning vistas in the distance, and maybe a few bright wildflowers popping up here and there, is a really good day indeed. We can't guarantee the temperature nor the puffy white clouds (that's part of the charm of puffy white clouds, of course; you've got to enjoy them when you see them) but we can point you toward the desert and a sweet Valentine's-ready deal. Or make that just-after-Valentine's-deal. Feb. 14 falls on a Thursday in 2013,  so Borrego Springs Resort & Spa will be throwing a sweethearts-style four-course dinner on Saturday, Feb. 16.

THERE'S A STAY-OVER DEAL, TOO: The dinner itself includes tasties like jalapeno-crusted halibut or filet mignon, and it can be purchased separately from staying the night at the resort. There's also a "romantic evening" of dancing with singer Eddie Gee providing the tunesmithing. But if you want to stay the night at the resort, there's a package for that, too, and it includes dinner and dancing. It's called the Romance Hotel Package (we do love a beautifully clear name).

BEYOND VALENTINE'S: The Anza-Borrego-close property has a couple of other intriguing spring-nice deals ahead, one for bicycling and one for wildflower-peeping. 'Tis the season for both of those activities, or nearly, so get planning, desert denizens. We wish you a day out of puffy clouds and all the cycling or flower-spotting you can handle.
