National Hotel's Haunted Halloween Dinner

NIGHTTIME AT THE NATIONAL: If you've been to California's Gold Country, chances are excellent you made a stop in Jamestown, a historic burg on the southern end of the area that's become much-associated with a certain sparkly nugget. The oh-so-history-filled National Hotel sits right on the town's main thoroughfare, and like every place that was built a few years back -- in the National's case, that's 1859 -- it has its own reported paranormal activity.

SO, COME HALLOWEEN... Or near Halloween, rather, there's a dinner to celebrate its supernatural guests. The 2010 feast is on Friday, Oct. 29, it'll be on the biggish side -- three courses -- and it is $65. There is going to be a bit of ghost-hunting, and a bit of murder-mystery-ing, too. Plus, Jamestown. We were in the area last fall, and remain besotted. Autumn leaves swirling here and there, and low, rolling foothills. Happy  Halloween, indeed.
