The “Other” La Jolla

THE JEWEL: Anyone can take I-5 to La Jolla Village Drive, take a right on Prospect and follow Coast Boulevard to the La Jolla Cove. That's great if you want to snorkle or take in the views with the masses. If you want to enjoy an afternoon like the locals, here are a few ideas.

MEG's EGGS: Start off the day with a visit to the Brockton Villa. We highly recommend the steamers - you won't regret it and neither will your waistline. If you haven't seen breakfast in a few moons, stop by betweeen 3 - 6 p.m. and enjoy the cheese plate and bottle of wine special for $25.

ART WITH A VIEW: Stroll through the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego's location on Prospect to see works from emerging artists and pick up a one-of-a-kind gift at the MCASD X Store. If you time your visit right, you can take advantage of the monthly free admission special.

BUILD-YOUR-OWN: On the corner of Girard and Prospect, X marks The Spot for a fun afternoon break with parmesan-garlic fries, a garbage burger and deep dish. YUM!
