Le Jour de Beaujolais Nouveau

Beaujolais and Beyond Wine Celebration: "A Beau-what?"  A Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine produced in the—you guessed it—Beaujolais region.  Since it's the most popular of its kind, on the third Thursday of November, Beaujolais Nouveau Day, the producers race to get the first bottles of the vintage to different markets.  How's that for a little French history?  The entire night is dedicated to the delicious--say it with me now--Beaujolais (bo-zho-la) from a country that values a good glass, instead of gulping it down to “feel the warmth”—not that there’s much wrong with that.

“Santé”(cheers) to that: The French wine with an accompanying sommelier is just the tip of the iceberg.  The French Gourmet will provide the cuisine and there will be live accordion music, yes accordion!  When’s the last time you’ve been serenaded by such a unique instrument as the accordion?

When and where?:
That was our next question too.  The event, put on by the San Diego French Chamber of Commerce, is at the San Diego Wine and Culinary Center on November 12th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door.  Feeling lucky lately?  You could win a round trip ticket to Paris. Qui qui! J'Adore!
