A City Serene, Back on the Scene

In September of 2009, a young local screamo band took to the road for their first tour. A City Serene had made headway on the local all-ages scene and while driving their van, were hit head on in a horrific accident that left all the members with injuries varying from serious to critical, including two members in comas for over 3 weeks.

San Diegans quickly rushed to help the young band and their families with medical bills that will still be dealt with for a long time to come.

Though lingering legal issues prevent full disclosure of all the issues that still surround the accident, five of the six members are finally healthy enough to perform. They had a private show in the spring and are following up with a performance with five of the six bandmembers tonight at Soma, playing with a substitute drummer as his injuries still prevent him from sitting behind a kit, with plans of a full summer tour leading up to the recording of their next record in the fall.

Granted, the music is screamo...not for everyone, but this band is proving to endure beyond even the most extreme obstacle and deserve immense credit for continuing the pursuit of their dreams.
