AvA at the BUT

Angels & Airwaves (AvA), a San Diego-based space rock band led by Blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, played a private interactive concert at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, on Friday.

A gathering among family and friends of the band (before a national tour), the performance was broadcast live on Fuel TV across the United States and five other countries, and Webcast on Fuel.tv (with live chatting). AvA, consisting of guitarist David Kennedy (Box Car Racer), drummer Atom Willard (the Offspring/Rocket From the Crypt) and bassist Matt Wachter (30 Seconds to Mars), blasted through 10 songs, mostly from their latest release, Love.  Available on Valentine's Day 2010, Love was released as a free download to the Angels & Airwaves community. Within 48 hours, nearly 500,000 downloads were processed (including Mark Hoppus' remix of the single "Hallucinations").

Dave Brown of Holiday Matinee/Legit Radio had the following to say about the show:  "Angels & Airwaves totally rocked. In a sea of Vampire Weekend-esque bands, it was refreshing to see a band that sticks to what they're good at and totally nail it."

Recently, Brown sat down with AvA's David Kennedy on his online radio show, Keep it Like a Secret, and discussed the new record, current tour and life as an independent artist.

Angels & Airwaves are currently on a 28-city North American tour, ending May 30 in Ventura, Calif. Following a summer European tour with Blink-182, DeLonge returns to AvA with more dates and a full-length movie to support the Love record.
