SoundDiego LIVE Hits the Beach

We head to Ocean Beach for our next SoundDiego LIVE party on June 19

To paraphrase that one HBO show about dragons and drama: "Summer is coming."

Well, it’s something like that. But either way, come Friday, June 19, the season of fun arrives in a big way with one of our biggest SoundDiego LIVE parties ever -- and it's all happening at Gallagher’s Irish Pub!

RSVP now for SoundDiego LIVE with Hills Like Elephants, the Verigolds and Diamond Lakes at Gallagher's on Friday, June 19.

Fresh off our standing-room only electro/darkwave extravaganza at the Air Conditioned Lounge with Prayers, Glass Spells and Idyll Wild, we’re heading to the easy-going, free-flowing shores of Ocean Beach with an event you simply cannot afford to miss.

Hosted by 91x’s local music guru (and Loudspeaker host) Tim Pyles, we’ve packed it with a hosted happy hour by one of the raddest craft beer breweries in town, Belching Beaver Brewery, and a few of the best bands in the San Diego music scene to boot: Hills Like Elephants, the Verigolds and Diamond Lakes head up the night’s lineup and we couldn’t be more stoked about it.

Known for their incredible live performances, Hills Like Elephants will bring their expansive indie pop/rock sound to life on the strength of their just-released album, “Tell Tales” and their recent trip to South By Southwest -- where, coincidentally, we caught them on video doing what they do best: wowing audiences.

Pyles raved: “Hills Like Elephants have this infectious indie-soul sound that creeps into your head -- and won’t leave it!”

The Verigolds caught our eyes and ears a while ago with their sunny, laidback vibes and chill mix of pop, psychedelia and experimentalism. They truly offer up something a bit different, but lovingly familiar at the same time. According to Pyles, their sound is difficult to pinpoint: “The Verigold’s song, ‘Grunge,’ has been a favorite for the last few months, but the band isn’t grunge. It’s more like indie alternapop with harmonies.” [Watch their SoundDiego Spotlight segment]

Offering up a slightly different kind of ruckus than the other two bands, Diamond Lakes have been making a rowdy splash on the scene lately and we like what we’ve heard so far. With a high-octane throwback rock & roll sound on tap, they fit in perfectly with our idea of the ideal party-starter.

“The first time I heard Diamond Lakes, I was instantly transported to the ‘90s,” Pyles said. “Reminds me of Husker Du or Dinosaur Jr.”

[Ed. note: Full disclosure, the most handsome guy in Diamond Lakes is also a member of the award-winning SoundDiego team, Dustin Lothspeich]

A SoundDiego LIVE party wouldn't be complete without dishing out some happy hour freebies to folks that RSVP early! Belching Beaching Brewery will be our San Diego craft-beer brewing partner on June 19, and if you haven't had their award-winning beer, you'll finally have your chance to get some fo' free! The party starts at 7:30 p.m., so grab your sunglasses, party hats and join us at Gallagher’s in OB ‘cause hey -- summer is coming.
