X-Fest Adds Blink-182, Changes Date

Ne San Diegan pop-punks Blink-182 have just been added to the lineup for this year's X-Fest. It will be the band's only California concert in 2013.

91x originally unveiled the lineup and details for this year's festival back in March. The event was originally scheduled for May but has been moved to Sept. 20 to accomodate the addition of Blink-182. X-Fest will be held at Sleep Train Ampitheater.

Alt-rock staples 30 Seconds to Mars and the Offspring will co-headline with Blink-182. The two groups are looking hot as ever -- 30 Seconds to Mars’ new single, “Up in the Air,” recently premiered in space, while the Offspring continue to maintain their deep-rooted cult following.

"When we started planning, we knew X-Fest had to be big this year in honor of 91X's 30th anniversary," said  91x program director Christy Taylor.  "We wanted Blink-182 from Day 1, but it didn't seem to be working out, so we went ahead with a stellar lineup with Offspring and 30 Seconds to Mars/ We never gave up, an opportunity appeared, and now we are thrilled to add San Diego's favorite band to X-Fes, and end the summer with the biggest concert of the year."

But that's not everything 91x has to show off: Los Angeles indie-rockers Silversun Pickups will also appear, and the fun doesn’t stop there. Hip-hop/ska standouts Dirty Heads and neo-soul breakouts Fitz & the Tantrums will be present to provide more than adequate support, not to mention our snotty hometown hero Nathan Williams and his band, Wavves, who will be touring in support his new record Afraid of Heights, which dropped on March 26.

Rounding out the day’s acts will be Australia’s newest buzz band Atlas Genius. with opening performances by recent X-Session performers New Politics and IAmDynamite.

Jimmy Eat World may not be a co-headliner for 91x’s X-Fest any longer, but they will still be making a special appearance in San Diego nonetheless.  The band is now slated to play the House of Blues on May 17at a show being presented by 91x – that’s the same date originally scheduled for X Fest.  A band still on the roster for this year’s festival, IAmDynamite, will join Jimmy Eat World for the show. Tickets for the Jimmy Eat World show will be available on Saturday at 10 a.m. Also of note: Los Angeles’ electro-pop upstarts Capital Cities are not on the lineup for September’s X-Fest.
