Military moms got an early Mother's Day present at Camp Pendleton over the weekend, courtesy of Wyclef Jean and Paulina Rubio, who performed a free concert at the base theater.

"Are you ready for a little rock & roll?" yelled Rubio as she revved up the crowd. Rubio performed for about 20 minutes before turning over the stage to Wyclef.

"One of my band members is a Marine, so let me hear you," Wyclef told the crowd after finishing a soulful rendition of "No Woman, No Cry."

From there, the founding member of the groundbreaking  1990s hip-hop giants the Fugees launched into a high energy mix of old school songs and contemporary hits. Jean showed off his electric guitar skills with a hard-rock solo, for a few moments plucking the strings with his teeth.

Rubio eventually returned to the stage, joined Wyclef for a flirty duet version of "Guantanamera."

Jean performed for more than an hour. Toward the end of the show, he invited mothers and their children onto the stage. It quickly turned into an open mike session with Wyclef turning over the mike to two little girls who belted out the lyrics to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA."

The concert was sponsored by Western Union, which also gave every mother in attendance a $50 gift card.
