Working It Out on the Dance Floor

Here’s to the short work week --- always a plus after a holiday weekend. There is plenty to do if you want to get your groove on this Thursday through Saturday in San Diego. Word is, we’ll have cooler weather starting Friday, but certainly not on the dance floor.

Thursday night, LED presents Designer Drugs at Voyeur. After nearly 50 remixes for everyone from Little Boots to Fischerspooner to Thieves Like Us, the group -- comprised of Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson -- finally released its debut album Hardcore/Softcore back in February of this year. They’ve played so many shows since their humble beginnings that the New York duo has logged more than 300,000 miles traveling all over the world. They always put on a great show, so don’t miss your chance to see them, with Black Matter doing opening honors. Check out more here. Another option for you is Physical Education at El Dorado, with Acid Girls, French Kiss Collective and Blancnoire. This monthly electro/disco/boogaloo party is free before 10:30 p.m., with your RSVP here.

Friday night, I’ll be celebrating the four-year anniversary of Pussy Galore at the Whistle Stop in South Park. Hotel St. George is having their CD release party that night. The band will be headlining, and they are bringing Grand Tarantula along for the festivities -- another one of my favorite local acts to see live. I’ll be DJing ‘80s, electro, indie and more throughout the night, with Terryn S and Jaime Ali. Get details via this link. In North Park at U-31, Feel the Noise presents a night of local DJ goodness, with Erick Diaz, Gabe Vega, David Afterlife and Boys Don’t Disco. It’s free before 11p.m. with your RSVP via this link.

On Saturday, join me for San Diego’s classiest gothic, industrial, fetish night: Club Sabbat at the Flame. More than 13 years and going strong, the event features two rooms so that patrons can get their fix of everything from EBM to Darkwave. I’ll be spinning in the main room, with Diskdroid and Atom keeping it old school in the back. For more info, go here. At U-31, Erika Star makes her way to town from Hollywood to headline a night of party rock, hip-hop and dance music, plus enjoy resident DJs Saul Q and Kid Wonder. Get more details via this link.
