Saturday, June 26, North County surfers and multi-platinum rock act Switchfoot returns to Moonlight Beach, in Encinitas, for the sixth annual Switchfoot Bro-Am surf contest and concert.
A free event, the Bro-Am benefits a local children's charity, StandUp For Kids, with funds raised at a pre-event auction at a private La Jolla Farms home. Additionally, an after-party at the Belly Up Tavern featuring Silent Comedy and the Howls -- both played at SoundDiego LIVE events -- will benefit the organization as well.
The Bro-Am's surf contest, featuring pro surfers, musicians and members of the community, requires that contestants ride "switchfoot" -- changing one's favored foot positions on the board -- during the competition. Providing the soundtrack for the event will be a beach concert with a formidable lineup that includes Jon Foreman (of Switchfoot), Chris Shiflett (of the Foo Fighters) and the Grammy-award winning YouTube sensations OK Go.
