One thing that I love about getting to write about music in San Diego is that there's always new bands and I'm constantly discovering new gems. There are bands like The Heavy Guilt who have been around, but for whatever reason slipped through my radar. I first saw the band just a couple weeks ago when they set up an amp outside of the Soda Bar to promote their show there the following night. They were nominated for a music award and I don't know why I'd never seen them before, but their songwriting and unique percussion really resonated with me and I've now seen them a couple times and love them. They're just one of many amazing shows tonight around town, including a dance party at the Casbah, some blues at the Belly Up with the Easy Star All-Stars, some great pop at Eleven, along with great shows at the Beauty Bar, Tin Can, and the Ken Club. Just don't party too hard because there's a lot of great stuff happening on Saturday that should not be missed.
