It's hard to fight the uplifting vibes of Michael Franti.

It's probably a good thing that my mom isn't much of a web user and doesn't read my writing because I am pretty sure she would be pretty upset if she knew that her blogger daughter isn't taking her to see Michael Franti. His latest release is catchy and uplifting and it's hard not to smile when you hear his jangly tunes, but there's a lot of competition tonight as Swedes Dungen rock the Casbah, Arizona's What Laura Says take over the Soda Bar, and some strong local bands rock around town at spots like West Coast Tavern, the Whistle Stop, and Bar Pink. It's a shame with all of today's technology that we can't time travel to catch all of tonight's goodness, but you've got to at least pick one and make it a memorable Thursday.
Thursday September 23:
Dungen, No Joy @ Casbah
Meg & Bryan @ West Coast Tavern
What Laura Says, Skybox, Jamuel Saxon @ Soda Bar
Michael Franti & Spearhead, Tamarama @ House of Blues
Ragdoll City, Lessons From Zeke, Red Hand @ Boar Cross'n
Rock Paper Tiger, Habitat, Aventale, Metatonic, Schmaltz @ Dreamstreet Live
