Today, let's talk about non-traditional venues and new ones. Bird's Surf Shed has now been open and operating for quite some time and every once in awhile, the Morena Boulevard hangar-style building doubles as a spot for special events and the occasional concert. The Kooks even played a private listener show there once. Seems like the perfect place for an indie-folk tour, featuring headliner Kris Orlowski from Seattle, and our local troubadour on the rise, Tyson Motsenbocker and other guests. Meanwhile, it's been a couple weeks since Blonde Bar officially opened and we're pretty excited about a new spot for live music and also for a good hang when the Casbah -- which is right down the street -- gets out early and you're looking for a spot for last call. Tonight, our friends Wild Wild Wets and Le Chateau break in the new spot. Meanwhile around town, Taken by Canadians are at Casbah, rapper the Game is at the Observatory, and Soda Bar and Hideout prepare for a huge weekend with pre-Awesome Fest X shows.
