Holiday weekends are always great in San Diego, with plenty of ways to enjoy the city, but the music options tend to shrink a bit. Of course, quality beats quantity, which is the case on Sunday night. Awesome Fest wraps up in City Heights, as the best in punk, garage and rock bands play at the Void and Soda Bar. The Whistle Stop hosts Station Fest, a night full of bands that feature groups with members who work at the Station. Down at the Casbah, an all-local throwdown happens, so you can hang out with some favorites and enjoy the night, hopefully without having to worry about an early morning for Labor Day. Around town there are a couple of pool parties and such to stay cool, too, which altogether sounds like a pretty good Sunday to me.
