A few years back, a friend from L.A. gave me a rough-cut CD of a kid named Avi Buffalo. I was definitely intrigued, especially to find out he was still in high school, and it wasn't long after that he was playing regular tours, including scattered San Diego shows. It's been six years since his debut, so he's all grown up and playing a headline spot on Friday at Soda Bar. With Buddy Banter, Big Bad Buffalo and Dawayne Neptune sharing the bill, this is a pretty great lineup to get your Friday night in action. Meanwhile at the Casbah, another solid lineup is at play as BFSB are back on the scene. Rebranding, as it were, from Buckfast Superbee, TJ and friends are going to rock your socks off. Around town, Kamasi Washington is at Humphrey's, Shane Alexander plays the new-ish Brick15 up in Del Mar, and MADEINTYO is at the Observatory.
