Red Fang return to the Casbah on Monday.
Before I sat down to write as fall is upon us, I was thinking that this is a tough time of year. Things start to slow down, there seem to be less touring acts coming through town. Then I took a look at the weather report and Tuesday's listings and thought that, perhaps, my assessment is premature. There are some great shows on Tuesday, and we're in San Diego, free from Sandy and there's really no excuse not to keep living it up any night of the week. Up at the Belly Up, the Devil Makes Three perform with one of my favorite discoveries of the year opening the night. Jonny Corndawg is a great performer -- entertaining lyrically as well as with his in-between-song stage banter, and he's just a cool guy you'll wish you could see in a honky tonk bar, though the Belly Up is a good alternative. At Soda Bar, Nick Zammuto performs under his last name after ending the Books earlier this year, and you can be sure that our scene's metal and doom lovers will be out in full force as Red Fang take the stage at the Casbah for their semi-annual return. Yup, no excuses to stay home.
