Sounds Like San Diego: October 19

Perhaps it does no good to plug a show that's already sold out, but the story of Foster the People is pretty fascinating. In January, the band performed at the Soda Bar for a handful of people with just a $5 cover charge. A couple months later, they were featured at SxSW and played to some industry types at the Austin convention center. They toured heavily, hitting San Diego shortly after Austin, with a sold-out show at the Belly Up, then repeated a sellout at the House of Blues in July. The band's hit,"Pumped Up Kicks" is everywhere, playing across all radio formats, landing the guys a spot on SNL and is so ubiquitous that my 4-year-old niece corrects me on the lyrics to match the censored version. Some might argue that this has more to do with their agency and management, but I think those things can only take you so far. Their sound is fresh and fun, and they execute well. So, yes, their show tonight at Soma is sold out, but it's hard to say they haven't earned it.
