Sounds Like San Diego: Oct. 17

There's so much going on in San Diego on Friday: The North Park Theatre hosts Yellowcard and Memphis May Fire in a co-headline show, while the Casbah hosts the first of two nights with Rubblebucket and Royal Canoe. The gorgeous vocals of Perfume Genius should pack a full house for the Soda Bar, and Ray LaMonatagne will certainly delight at the Open Air Theatre. Those are all well and good, but I want to point out the event at the Church in Barrio Logan (linked below), where several local hip-hop artists are performing at the ACLU-sponsored event to get out the word about voting. Many people believe that legal infractions, incarceration and probation prevent them from voting. The LMV (Let Me Vote) Campaign wants to educate people about their voting rights. This is a free and all-ages event, and with a very important election right around the corner, just might be the most important event of the evening.
