I don't know what you have planned this weekend, but you might want to start it off a little bit early, because there are some legit shows in town tonight. Unfortunately, you're out of luck if you were hoping to catch RJD2 at the Observatory, the Selecter at Casbah, or Drive-By Truckers at the Belly Up, but you still have some solid choices. At the House of Blues' Voodoo Room, MOTHXR -- featuring Penn Badgley of the show "Gossip Girl" -- will actually be quite awesome despite the "terrible" name (according to the band, anyway), while experimental rock vets Legendary Pink Dots return to Soda Bar. Singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin is at Music Box, and the main room of House of Blues turns metalcore with Killswitch Engage. There's plenty of fun to be had to kick the weekend off just a little bit early.
