It makes me so proud when bands seemingly come from nowhere and just step into their own spot in San Diego's musical landscape. So it was when I heard about Old Tiger for the first time and started booking them at West Coast Tavern. Of course, plenty of other people took notice of their hard work, their great sound and their kindness as people.
In no way do I claim credit for Old Tiger's discovery, but now they've got a CD release party to celebrate the long journey they've taken. Supported by local greats the Heavy Guilt, Nena Andersen & the Mules and the Red Fox Tails performing in the Atari Lounge, Friday at the Casbah will be well worth your while.
If that doesn't suit your fancy, El Cajon Blvd. between the 805 and the 15 is the place to be with five black metal bands playing free at Eleven to celebrate the release of Ruines Ov Abbadon's new CD and Davit Buck hosts a $1 cover night at Soda Bar.
Friday, Oct. 12:
Old Tiger (CD Release), the Heavy Guilt, Nena Anderson & the Mules, the Red Fox Tails @ Casbah
