The weekend is here and thankfully the rain is now a distant memory. There are tons of shows on Friday worth mentioning, but since the costumed goliath King Khan is sold out, we should focus on other shows around town: Oh, Spirit are worth seeing if you haven't already -- featuring familiar faces from other S.D. bands with a twist on the great indie sounds from which they came. If you're up for a drive to Sycuan Casino, check out Modern English. Everyone always gushes about the Iron Maidens whenever they play in town -- with girls covering Iron Maiden, you really can't go wrong. But my pick of the night has to be Red Fang. The ear-deafening, face-melting band from the Northwest always bring it hard so it's worth a trip to Brick by Brick to catch them live. It's a great Friday night no matter where you land, I'll be letting my ears bleed at the Brick.
