Thursday night should give you the warm fuzzies to beat this brief San Diego cold spell. The Irenic hosts another sold-out show. with Of Montreal; Garth Brooks plays his first of four nights at the Valley View Casino Center, and the Internet mouths off at the Stage at UCSD, the former site of Porter's Pub. The Real McKenzies canceled their Casbah show, so there will be a freebie on Thursday instead with Sculpins and Lexington Field. All of that is well and good, but I'm particularly excited about the return of singer/songwriter David Ramirez to Soda Bar. Just a few months ago, he opened for Dustin Kensrue at the Irenic, and Ramirez is returning to San Diego as his tour kicks off. For a unique voice and beautiful music, this is your best show in town.
