There are big "party" nights of the year -- New Year's and Independence Day and Halloween all come to mind -- but in my opinion, one of the most fun nights to go out for a good time is the night before Thanksgiving. Think about it: People who've moved out of town return to be with their families, most people don't have to work on the holiday and can afford to sleep in, and if you're family is like mine, you're eating dinner by 3 p.m. and spending the rest of the day on the couch anyway. So yes, there is great live music all over town on Wednesday, and it should be a great night to get out for some fun. Chris Isaak performs a sold-out show at the Belly Up, Ryan Cabrera hits the Griffin, and the Heavy Guilt are at Gallagher's. The Casbah hosts North County's Stripes and Lines, which headline a great local bill; and Soda Bar has the indie pick of the night with Nightlands. You might think it's time to stay in, but perhaps you should save that for Thursday. Then again, you probably don't have to work Friday, either!
